Meet The New Members of Our Advisory Council
Stephanie Birnbaum, Ph.D., is an evolutionary ecologist who is passionate about exposing diverse students to the natural world around them. She received her B.S. in biology from Emory University and her Ph.D. in Biological Sciences from Vanderbilt University. Stephanie has developed class and field curriculum for K-12 students and especially loves introducing students to the wonders of plants and insects! She is currently a visiting assistant professor of biology at Occidental College. Outside of her love for biology, Stephanie lives with her partner and dachshund in Los Angeles and loves hiking, beach trips, and exploring new restaurants.
Freya Chun is a strategy consultant focused on consumers and TMT. She also currently serves as the Los Angeles Office Head for Inspire, a pro-bono consulting organization for nonprofits. Freya received her bachelor's degree at UC Berkeley in statistics and economics. As a former STEM student, Freya has always been passionate about promoting the presence of women in STEM, and looks forward to utilizing her experiences and skills acquired in consulting to help nonprofits develop strategic plans to better serve communities. Freya has also been involved in many diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging efforts, and was the founder of a nonprofit that focused on bridging the gaps between low-income students in East Asian countries and various educational and career resources in the United States.
We established our Advisory Council as a means to ensure that our materials and programming are relevant and reflect the diversity of the communities that we serve.
Advisory Council members will have an opportunity to contribute their expertise and skills to assist Boundless Brilliance with expansion and sustainability. To learn more about our Advisory Council, contact us at info@boundlessbrilliance.org

Volunteer Highlight: Karishma Bhakta
Karishma Bhakta was born and raised in the city of Los Angeles, California. In the spring of 2022, she began assisting the Boundless Brilliance team in developing social media content. In her senior year of college, she was introduced to marketing for nonprofit organizations and loved learning about the ways students and teachers developed resources for them. During Cal State LA's Annual Food Drive, she witnessed firsthand the impact that college students can make on elementary students when she and other college students made cards of encouragement, wrapped gifts, and made food baskets for low-income elementary students. At the end of the semester, Karishma and other Boundless Brilliance members visited local schools where they connected with children and were able to share how they were following their dreams of going to college and building a better life for themselves. This interaction is one of the most memorable moments in Karishma’s life.
Feedback Needed! STEM Education For Special Needs Students Initiative
Are you the parent or guardian of a child who is neurodiverse or has mental/learning disabilities?
If so, we would love to hear from you, and hope that you will consider participating in our upcoming Focus Group. We would like to learn more about how your child is able to access science/STEM education, whether or not you find it adequate, and if there are any challenges you have found that make it difficult for them to engage with and understand these lessons.
Boundless Brilliance has recently launched an initiative that is focused on developing quality and impactful supplemental STEM curriculum for Special Needs students. This initiative aligns with our goal of helping to ensure that STEM becomes more accessible and inclusive.
You can access the SURVEY here. Please feel free to share the survey!
